One of my worst pet peeves. I grind my teeth whenever someone says this. But what do you do? Obviously if they speak that way, then you correcting them isn't going to help. Oy!
Oh, that irritates me too! My brain automatically inserted the "have" when I read the "I seen" bit. I don't like it when people get they're, there, and their mixed up. I think it's obvious which one to use!
Lord, I have SO MANY grammar pet-peeves, it's difficult to hold back, here. The first to come to mind is when folks write "could of" rather than "could have." How, in the name of all that's grammatically holy, does "could of" make any dang sense, AT ALL????? Ahem. (See what I mean?) (Gah!) Some Dark Romantic
Messed up phrases are the worst!!! One really bad one is "I could care less." C'mon people. The phrase is, "I couldn't care less." If you could care less, then that means that you do, in fact, care!
I mean, I am by no means perfect (typo queen), but I still growl when I see it :)
Hahaha I know what you mean. Still, messed up phrases like that have a great use when it comes to establishing voice in dialogue, so I'm kind of fond of them, even if I do cringe when people say them in front of me.
