If you are feeling down about those soul-stealing rejection letters, check this out:
Famously successful people who failed at first. The list is huge, but they all have one thing in common- they never stopped trying.
Best of luck, and happy writing!!!
Hi :)
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by from the IWSG.
Ha ha ha, thank you, and yes, I did really need to hear that! Lol
Xx
Perfect....never going to give up! Happy IWSG July 4th to everyone!
ReplyDeleteWell met, Kaye :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link - I'm bookmarking this to refer to whenever the writer downs gets the better of me. It's amazing how many iconic figures had to struggle so much before they hit it big (Lincoln really surprised me).
Thanks guys! Best of luck in all your endeavors :)
ReplyDeleteVery impressive list. I knew about many of them, but not all. Quite inspiring. Thanks, Kaye. And thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Don't give up! :)
ReplyDeleteIWSG #288
That's right! Can't succeed if you quit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in the IWSG.
Kaye, I'm so sorry to hear about the soul-stealing rejection letters. I'll be querying in two months and I'm expecting lots of soul-crushing things in my inbox, too. Ah, well, that's the biz. I hope request starts outnumbering the rejections.
ReplyDeleteWhen the requests come, they more than make up for it ;) I got a really nice one today from an agent that I thought was a shot in the dark !
DeleteI love looking over famous people who failed at first. I especially take comfort in the story of Walt Disney, being told he had no good ideas/imagination. It's always perked me up if I feel down. I also love J.K. Rowling's success story. (:
ReplyDeleteDon't ever give up! (: Every written work deserves to be published with the heart that goes into it.
Nice to meet you through IWSG. :D I hope it doesn't seem too sudden that I nominated you for an award on my blog. (: > http://www.flamecycle.blogspot.com/2012/07/my-first-award.html
Thanks! Can I just say that I think it's awesome that you are following your dream at such a young age? I wish I had let myself do that! Now I have to catch up :) But it is what it is. Best of luck!
DeleteI like knowing that some people failed first time out in the writing world. I like to hope some didn't, but that's just silly. Nice to meet you through IWSG! I'm a new follower. :D
ReplyDeleteHope springs eternal... I've said it before, I know better than to hope I'll be one of those wild success stories, but it never stops me from thinking, every time: this is the one! I just know it!
